In a startling revelation, it has emerged that some of the documents related to Revenue department are missing. Following the suspicious missing of vital records, the officials are mulling over installing closed circuit television cameras to keep a tab on the same.

This came to light during the revenue adalat of Mangaluru ‘A’ hobli convened by Mangaluru South MLA J R Lobo here, recently. Following the revelation, Lobo instructed the authorities to hold the officials concerned accountable for missing documents. Mincing no words, he said the officials should own responsibility if any of the files related to pahani, documents, survey sketch among others are not found. The higher ups should investigate such cases and initiate legal action against such officials.

The legislator said he was not ready to hear explanation of officials. Instead, he insisted on investigation and action against erring officials at the earliest. In his explanation, Mangaluru Tahsildar Mahadevaiah said, “There are plans to equip record room with CCTV cameras, besides merging the record room with tahsildar’s office.”

To enable people avail facilities, Lobo urged Revenue department officials to organise adalats at village level, at least two villages in a day to get rid of any complaints. By organising adalats, it will help people get solutions towards their woes on the spot.

In case of any erroneous records, people will lose their peace, eventually affecting their mental health, warned Lobo, making it a point to officials to ensure error-free job.

Apart from revenue officers, village accountants will also take part in the adalat and are supposed to dispose complaints within a fortnight or a month from receiving the petition, he said.

Lobo distributed certificates related to widow pension, honorarium for disabled, Sandhya Suraksha, Manaswini among other government schemes. Corporators Kavitha, Rathikala and Latheef and others were present on the occasion.
