A good teacher should be like a good midwife: B M Hegde

Delivering the inaugural address of the two-day English Language Workshop for High School-level English teachers at Government First Grade College for women here on Friday, he said that a good teacher should be like a good midwife.

“He/she should be able to get the best out of the students by coercing, cajoling, sympathising and empathising”, he added. He advised the teachers to keep learning and to correct and update themselves everyday. Principal of DIET and DDPI Prof Philomena Lobo in her address debated on the issue whether the purpose is to teach English or to teach the subject matter of English.

Principal of the Government First Grade College for Women U Tara Rao condemned the mobile phone language for spoiling English.  BEO Kodandaram K, Vice President of ABS Dr Ramachandra Bhatta, Secretary Dr S M Shivaprakash and others were present.
