Says Aditya Narayan, son of playback singer Udit Narayan, “Shaapit is a horror/love story of Aman and Kaya. When they discover that Kaya’s family has a generational curse, Aman resolves to fight it for the pursuit of true love. The audiences are in for a horror joyride.” He is all praises for director Vikram Bhatt, whom he regards as his teacher. “Every day, he would tell me snippets about experiences of other actors he has worked with like Amitji and Aamir Khan. Each day was a learning experience and I am glad to have earned Vikram’s stamp of approval.”

Laughingly, he dismisses any comparison with his previous appearances on the silver screen. “It’s a completely different ball game when you’re a child actor. As a kid on the set, it’s largely about fun and having a good time. When you’re in the lead, it’s not such an easy task.”

The multi-talented Aditya has written, composed and sung the title song as well as lent his voice to three other songs. Ask him which he likes best, acting or singing and he remains non-committal. “I just can’t choose between them. From my childhood, I have never aspired to be just a singer. I want to try different things.” While confident about the movie, jitters seem to be slowly working their way to Aditya. “Yesterday, the cinema hall near my house put up a poster of Shaapit between that of MNIK and Teen Patti. Being placed between two such superstars was nerve-racking.”

The coming year promises to be quite busy for Aditya. “I will be a part of Vikram’s next venture and will appear in a TV show towards the end of the year.” He is modest about all the female attention he is garnering. “It’s part of the profession. Today, I’m working hard and doing well and people appreciate my work. Tomorrow, if I stop doing well, they will move on to the next person. It’s important to keep a calm head and not let all the attention affect you.”

Actor, singer, TV star. Whatever role he chooses to play, we are sure that his fans will be waiting with bated breath.
