Shetty advised parents to encourage children with good aptitude to pursue medical education to become doctors.  The future of healthcare will be through telemedicine and surgeries are more likely to be conducted through remote controls, he added.

Recalling liver transplants that are being conducted at Narayana Hrudayalaya, Shetty said the anaesthesia for the patient undergoing a liver transplant surgery is given by doctors of Children’s Hospital in Philadelphia through satellite connectivity, as this hospital is known to have the best anaesthetists for children, he said.

Dr Lloyd Vincent, senior consultant nephrologist and director of dialysis services at Narayana Hrudayalaya in his presentation, said: “Children in school must know about different diseases and its implication on health so that they are aware about treatment available.” Earlier, Dr Abraham Ebenezer, founder chairman of Ebenezer International School, highlighted the salient features of the new initiatives of the school.
