Speaker writes to PM on Mahadayi

 Legislative Assembly Speaker K B Koliwad has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveying to him the resolution of the House seeking his intervention in resolving the Mahadayi water dispute.

The Assembly had passed a resolution in the Belagavi session on December 1 last seeking the Prime Minister’s intervention and calling a meeting of the chief ministers of Karnataka, Goa and Maharashtra to resolve the Mahadayi dispute.

This apart, Water Resources Minister M B Patil is scheduled to hold a meeting with the state’s legal team representing the Cauvery river water issue in the Supreme Court in Delhi on Saturday. He will discuss the hearing in the Supreme Court on the Cauvery issue from February 7.
