Confused PM twisting facts, claims UP CM

Last Updated 03 March 2017, 20:40 IST

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Friday sought to counter Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s allegations of corruption in the state and said Modi was “confused” and dishing out “wrong facts”.

Addressing a hurriedly convened press conference here, Akhilesh took potshots at Modi and his Cabinet colleagues, who were camping in Varanasi, and said the saffron party had realised that it had “lost” the Assembly polls and therefore resorting to baseless allegations.

He strongly refuted allegations that bribes were paid to secure government jobs in the state. “I challenge the BJP to bring any one who has paid to get government jobs. The recruitment process was completely transparent,” he said.

He said the NDA regime had awarded several IT programmes being run by the state government. “Does the PM want to say that Centre has taken bribe to give those certificates,” he added.

Akhilesh also furnished a list of 10 beneficiaries of the free laptop and the ‘kanya vidyadhan’ scheme from Varanasi and asked BJP leaders to visit their homes and find out if there was any discrimination in selecting the beneficiaries.
