Moderate snowfall and rain in Jammu and Kashmir Friday led to the closure of the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway for the third consecutive day with temperatures declining resulting in a chill.
A Met department official said Srinagar recorded one inch of snow, while the ski resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir recorded 15 inches and Pahalgam in south Kashmir recorded four inches of fresh snowfall on Friday.
He said due to fresh snowfall in the plains, the minimum temperature also dropped with Srinagar recording a low of minus 0.1 degrees Celsius.
