The Extension police on Monday arrested two youths in connection with the attack on Kannada writer Yogesh Master. The suspects have been identified as Shivaprakash and Chethan, both residents of the city.

According to the police, they identified themselves with Hindu Jagarana Vedike, a right-wing organisation. The writer was attacked by the youths while he was having tea at a stall on Bapuji Dental College Road on Sunday.

Master was at the stall after attending a programme organised by Gauri Lankesh Patrike on the occasion of the 82nd birth anniversary of journalist P Lankesh when the youths attacked him and blackened his face.

Master lodged a complaint with Extension police. Several progressive writers and activists staged a protest after the attack on Sunday in support of Master.
