Kher said that the whole industry is united on this front and will support the 67-year-old superstar."The whole controversy is disgusting. Political leaders stay in power for 5 years and go but an icon like Amitabh Bachchan has ruled the heart of our countrymen for more than 40 years. Its a shame to regard Bachchan like this. He has full support from the film industry regarding the issue," Kher said.

Bachchan was at the centre of a controversy over his presence at inauguration of the Bandra-Worli sea-link on Wednesday, prompting Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan to remark that he would not have attended it if he had known that the megastar, a brand ambassador for Gujarat, was there.

Bachchan said that he had attended the function at the invitation of the PWD ministry headed by Congress coalition partner NCP, and that the controversy was "manufactured".
Kher was here to promote a nationwide educational campaign 'Discover India' to involve children (8-14 yrs) aware of the social, cultural, historical aspects of India.

'Discover India', supported by Ministry of Tourism's 'Incredible India' initiative, plans to cover over 2000 schools nationwide and interact with over 30 lakh students in coming eight months. It has been initiated by Unite India Educom Pvt Ltd, a joint venture by Kher's Curtain Call Co. and Evolve Brands
