The funds raised during the Police Flag Day celebrations are not sufficient to bear the medical expenses of the retired police personnel.

Hence, the government should reimburse the medical expenses of the retired police personnel, said retired DySP Y D Keshavananda.

He was speaking at the Police Flag Day and distribution of Field Marshal Cariappa Trophy at district police grounds in Madikeri on Sunday. “The government bears the medical expenses of those who are in service. However, the retired personnel do not have any such benefits,” he said. The police personnel work round the clock while in service.

Air marshal (retired) K C Cariappa said all of us should develop patriotic fervour. He urged the police personnel to discharge their duties honestly.

SP Rajendra Prasad called upon the police personnel to have good rapport with the general public.

Constable Abdul Majeed was bestowed with Field Marshal K M Cariappa Trophy for his service. A total of 12 retired police personnel were felicitated on the occasion.
