Bask in the sunshine

It’s that time of the year when the sun is out to play. However, how much of fun you have depends on what you wear!

Oh yes it is true. Your Summer is very highly dependent on how you are clothed. And that is not only for fashion’s sake but also for your comfort. Read on to find out the coolest fashion tips for this summer.

Cotton is your best friend
Dress yourself from the inside out in cotton. Let the softest, friendliest, most fashionably correct version of cotton caress you.

Cotton is the most absorbent and breathable fabric you will find. It will not only keep you cool this Summer, but will also feel light on you. The disadvantage of wearing cotton all season is probably the fact that it wrinkles in the case of weaves. But knits do quite well.

Be sure to check the garment label to figure whether your garment is 100 % cotton or a mix. Don’t allow for more than a 30% mix of synthetic in cotton during the sunshine hours. It will only make you sweat and feel ‘not so fresh’ all day.

Black isn’t a day colour
This is pure science! Who said fashion isn’t scientific? Here’s the most fashionable science fact this Summer. Light energy can be converted into heat energy. A black object absorbs all wavelengths of light and converts them into heat, so the object gets warm.

A white object reflects all wavelengths of light, so the light is not converted into heat and the temperature of the object does not increase noticeably. Meaning, you’ll only get warmer on a sunny day if you’re wearing black. Wear white to stay the coolest.

Loose is a good feeling
If the subtitle made you smile, then you know what it’s all about. The worst feeling is to be in tight fitting, figure hugging clothes if you are feeling hot. Let yourself free in loose-fitted culottes or parallels, kaftan tops or tunics.

Fashionably loose is also a thing, so don’t get carried away!

Let the feet breathe
No fashion trend is worth hurting your feet, in any weather. A special mention to footwear in Summer because feet need to breathe too.

Our feet have sweat glands that are at work more in summer, therefore the need to let them breath. A good way to do this is by wearing sandals. If you are a fan of closed shoes throughout the year, then you need only two tips.

Always use cotton socks and be sure your shoes are not tight.

Your spot of shade
Make the best of the months to come, for the sun beckons to see the glory of a million eyes looking towards it in trendy sunglasses!

And aren’t we just spoilt for choice. Pick a pair that best reflects you in the garment you are wearing. Thin rimmed for elegant occasions, reflectors for outdoors, aviators for “in the car” so on and so forth. You can’t just have one!
