No leak in Aadhaar: govt

Last Updated 05 April 2017, 19:52 IST

The government on Wednesday told the Lok Sabha that no data had been leaked from the Aadhaar system of Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI).

“There is no question of leakage of Aadhaar data. There is no leakage, and it cannot be (leaked),” P P Chaudhary, Minister of State for Information Technology and Electronics, said after M B Rajesh of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) raised the issue in the House during Zero Hour.

Rajesh referred to a recent complaint by cricketer M S Dhoni’s wife Sakshi Dhoni that her husband’s privacy was breached after an official of Common Services Centre posted on Twitter former India captain’s Aadhaar application form. The MP, however, did not take Dhoni’s or his wife’s name.

“When the government is aggressively pushing linking Aadhaar with various schemes and services, leakage of Aadhaar data has become a serious issue,” said Rajesh.a
