The police have arrested a 23-year-old youth in Hindupur in Andhra Pradesh for two-wheeler thefts. Police have recovered 51 bikes worth Rs 25 lakh from him.

P Manohar (23), a resident of Hongasandra in the city and a native of Anantapur in Andhra Pradesh, had resorted to vehicle thefts and betting to lead a lavish life.

Manohar was a PU dropout and had moved to Bengaluru sometime ago. He was working for a garment factory at Bommasandra, where he fell in love with a girl, with whom he started living in.

However, the girl fell ill and returned to her native place a few months ago. She told Manohar, who went to see her, that she could not work any more due to ill health and would stay back at her native place.

She asked him to find a house, so that she could return. Manohar then began to steal bikes and sold them for Rs 10,000 each in Andhra Pradesh.

He was also betting on artistes coming out of the Bigg Boss house every week. He is also said to have been involved in cricket betting. He had rented a house and was planning to bring his lover back in two days.
