Four thousand people from across the state will participate in a cycle rally from Tipu Sultan's tomb in Srirangapatna to Mysuru Town Hall to mark the 218th death anniversary of the martyred king on May 4.
The cyclists will reach the Town Hall where a series of cultural programmes including the staging of ‘Tippuvina Kanasugalu’ (The Dreams of Tipu Sultan), a play written by Girish Karnad chronicling the life of the king, will be held.
“There is a lot of misconception about him that includes the belief that he was an anti-national or anti-Kannadiga. We want to break these misconceptions. We want to share the true life of the king,” said S M Iqbal , convener of Muttahida Mahaz.
