SC refuses to reconsider stay on revision of KPSC selection list

The Supreme Court on Thursday refused to reconsider its stay on the revision of the selection list of the 1998, 1999 and 2004 batches of administrative officers made by Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC).

Senior advocate Sushil Kumar Jain, representing some of the officers, submitted before a three-judge bench presided over by Chief Justice J S Khehar that they were denied promotion due to the stay order passed on December 14, 2016.

The high court, by its order on June 21, had directed for revising the list, “unsettling” the appointments of the officers working for the last 10 years in different departments.

The bench, also comprising Justices D Y Chandrachud and Sanjay Kishan Kaul, said, “We are not going to pass any interim order. We are ready to hear the matter.”

The court asked the counsel, representing the state government, the KPSC and others to decide the date of hearing among themselves. The court finally put the matter for hearing after the summer break.

Acting on a plea by the officers, the court had, in December last, put on hold the revised list prepared by KPSC on the basis of a CID report.
