The BMS College of Engineering is all set to host its grand techno-cultural mega event, Utsav 2010, on April 1, 2 and 3.  The students are excited about this national level fest and are geared up to host more than 60 events in different categories.

“Our college campus wears a new look and urges passers-by to have a glance at the carnival. We have been receiving great appreciation and national recognition for conducting this fair,” says Karthik, a volunteer. Utsav started in 1983 and is still the pioneer of all youth festivals held by engineering colleges in Karnataka.

“Utsav 09 saw a mind-blowing participation of 4500 students from 300 colleges. And nearly 30,000 spectators enjoyed the three-day event,” says Anvesh, the student coordinator.

This year, they are expecting a huge turnout of 40,000 people and there are many entertaining events. Whiplash, the rock band of the college, will be the attraction this time.  Events like Western and Indian dance, Mad Ads, fun games, management and technical events, theatre events, Kannada events, fine art events including sketching, face painting and rangoli; literary events like debate, quiz and dumb charades, will be held as part of the fest.

The glamour quotient will be provided by a fashion show featuring talented designers and dazzling models walking the ramp to contemporary music.  The rhythms of Hindustani and Carnatic vocals, the vibrations of the violin, sitar and veena, the beats of tabla, ghatam and mrudangam, the soothing sounds of flute and saxophone will captivate the audiences.

Volunteers are busy preparing for the fest and beautifying the campus. “Festive mood has spread across the campus. We are very enthusiastic and wish to excel in this fest. A big bunch of volunteers are guiding the participants,” includes Vidya, the cultural co-ordinator.
