Vishwanath, Raju star for Bangalore SC

Dhan­ush Raju struck a patient century and Vishwanath HK starred with a five-wicket haul as Bangalore Sports Club earned three points from their drawn encounter against Modern Cricket Club in the KSCA Group I, II Division league for the MAT Acharya Shield here.

Modern CC batted first and rode on Chethan’s 60 to post 140 in 59.2 overs. Vishwanath, with figures of 5/47, was the most sucessful bowler for Bangalore SC. Avinash Gowda (2/33) and Ruturaj B (2/28) chipped in with two wickets each.

In response Bangalore SC, on the back of Dhanush’s 117 (218b, 15x4), made 220 in 80.3 overs, taking a lead of 80 runs in the process. Mohammed Naseeruddin claimed a five-for (5/55) for Modern CC while Sagar Tyagi (2/37) and Chethan (2/62) contributed with two wickets apiece.

In their second essay, Modern CC were on 74/4 in 37.3 overs before the game ended in a draw. Based on the first innings lead, Bangalore SC got three points while Modern CC settled for one.
