Television actor and social media icon Disha Madan has garnered much attention for her music and dance videos. Popular on Music.ly and Dubsmash, she seems to be striking the right chord with youngsters through her talent. In a chat with Tapan Menezes, Disha talks about her journey so far and what encourages her each day.

When did you start performing?
I started at the age of three by attending bharathanatyam classes. I then put in a lot of effort and won the first season of ‘Dancing Star’ featured on Colors Kannada. Now I use Dubsmash and Music.ly to keep my fans happy.

Has your family encouraged you in your endeavours?
Coming from a family with a background in art and music, I feel I have to take the legacy forward. My fiancee Shashank Vasuki also encourages me strongly to work and continue my passion.

Your strengths and weaknesses...
Spontaneity is my strength and I never fear a big crowd. I have to confess that I can pull off a dance at anytime but I am a terrible singer, unlike my mother, who loves singing.

What is ‘TheTipTap Movement’ all about?
Studying at Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath, I met Pooja, my partner and best friend with whom I have started our new venture ‘TheTipTap Movement’. It is slowly picking up as an online dance tutorial page and we plan to come up with our own studio by the end of this year.

What do you do in your free time?
I like sharing my love for dance with others. I also enjoy taking my car for a spin for and I must say that I love automobiles.

Any message for your fans?
I love my fans and all I want to say to them is ‘Life is not all about becoming famous or big but it’s about having self-confidence and not shattering during the hard times’.
