A chief executive officer (CEO) of a city-based company has lodged a police complaint after an auto-driver pushed him and made away with his luggage in Sarjapur recently.

The app-based Ola autorickshaw was hired by the victim on May 27 and the incident happened after the driver refused to drop him at the destination.

According to the complainant M V Amaresh Kumar, his wife had booked an Ola autorickshaw for him. He was picked up by Rudreshiva Gowda from DLF New Town and had to be dropped to his house on Sarjapur Main Road.

“All through the journey, the auto driver kept asking me where I wanted to be dropped and complained that he could not ride for such a long distance,” said Kumar.

Around 9.15 pm, the driver stopped the vehicle, a few kilometres away from the destination and sped away after pushing Kumar. “In the melee, I could not even take my belongings including a tab, my bag and Rs 7,500 in cash. However, Rs 327 was debited from my Ola wallet,” he added.

Soon after the incident, he asked his wife to press the SOS tab on the app, and she got a reply stating that the issue was not genuine.

No response

“We then called the Ola customer support, however, there was no response,” claimed Kumar in his police complaint. Ola did not respond to any queries.
