'Dr T M A Pai, Dr T A Pai brought changes in lives of many'

Manipal University pro-chancellor H S Ballal said that both Dr T M A Pai and Dr T A Pai were revolutionaries who brought changes in the lives of numerous through education.

Speaking at Smriti Din organised for Dr T M A Pai and Dr T A Pai by Bharatiya Vikas Trust and Manipal Academy of General Education, he said both are remembered for the their contributions to the field of education and finance. They felt that ill health, illiteracy and poverty were the major problems bothering the nation and the only solution that would eliminate these problems would come from education and health, he added.

He said the leaders were instrumental in setting up milestones that brought Manipal on the map of the world. He said that Dr T A Pai had expertise in several fields. He had offered loans to Dirubhai Ambani and played a major role in his success, Ballal added. Even now, one can find his photograph in the office of Ambanis, he added.

The Trust distributed vegetable seeds on the occasion. Syndicate Bank general manager Sathish Kamath said the ideologies of the two leaders should be model for the youths. The commitment and strong determination is the only way out to the success, he added.

The Brahamvar Zonal Agriculture and Horticulture Research Centre associate professor Dr H S Chaitanya spoke about the benefits of organic farming on the occasion.
