For a long time, the term fashion was associated with women, as they were considered avant garde when it comes to setting and exploring fashion trends. In 2017, men have all the ingredients to change the fashion landscape, and give women a stiff competition. Men’s fashion has become serious business these days. It’s not just about the outfit, which shapes your personality and how people perceive you, but it is also about how you complete the whole ensemble. In recent times, men’s accessories have added a new dimension to men’s fashion.

The three patterns that are making headlines in the global men’s fashion circle are print, checks and jacquard. Men are picking up shirts with prints and checks on it. Although florals have dominated this segment, many are now experimenting with bird prints and celestial prints to name a few. It breaks away from the traditional prints and gives a fresh look to one’s wardrobe. Not just shirts, you will also find trousers with prints, which are elegant and not loud. Moving on to checks, which will never go out of fashion. They make up for a quintessential workplace outfit, and will continue to occupy place in men’s closets for a long time.

In blazers, jacquard is making waves, as the work on the fabric gives it a distinct look, and makes you stand out in the crowd. Even prints like that of a dragon draw attention to the subtle detailing on an outfit.

With so many choices in hand, men don’t shy away from trying these new trends, as they are open to experimenting and adding a dash of adventure to their wardrobe. Here are some subtle dressing tips to get your look right:

Ties & accessories

Choose a plain-textured tie and go easy on the knots. Keeping it simple is the trick, which will help you achieve a classic look. In addition to this, flaunting a pocket square will complete the ensemble. Colourful pocket squares are the need of the hour. Don’t hesitate to try on bold colours, which will make you stand out in the crowd. The combination of tie and pocket square are of paramount importance, and always pay attention to colours and texture. Other accessories including lapel pins, a good pair of cufflinks and a reversible belt will take your style quotient a notch higher.

Footwear & more

Next in line is the shoe. Studies have concluded that footwear defines people’s personality. Gentlemen would surely agree. Like men’s clothing, shoes too have evolved to become a man’s best friend. Tan brogues with a tassel have become the latest fad. You will see a lot of men across the globe pairing their tuxedos and bandhgalas with this piece of art. Add a pair of socks, with a hint of playful colours, to match your personality, and you will surely make heads turn.
Minor adjustments

Once you have all of the above in place, take some time out to carry out the finishing touches. Ensure that a quarter inch of the shirtsleeve is visible under the jacket, and the bottom width of your trouser is narrower than the earlier 15 or 16 inches, and also the length of the trouser is definitely no longer than one break.

If you take all this into consideration when you step out for board meetings, social gatherings, corporate events or for your first interview, then it is safe to say, you have got the look for 2017.
