A television actor has complained to police that some people have created fake Facebook accounts in her name and uploaded obscene content on them.

Swathi, who works in the Kannada teleserial ‘Manedevru’ which is broadcast on Colors Kannada, has filed separate complaints with the city police’s cybercrime police station and the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). She said the culprits downloaded her profile picture from her Facebook account and created fake accounts under Shruthi Saith, Shruthi Sanvi, Shruthi Nagaraj, Ajay Kumar and Chaitra Gowda. They not only uploaded obscene content but also listed her father’s phone number and her residential address.

Swathi said a friend brought the matter to her father’s attention. “I complained to Facebook and got the fake accounts deleted. But another fake account under Kavitha Nagaraj surfaced and the same posts were uploaded. I have been facing mental harassment for the past two months,” she said.
