KCA to host first Bengali film festival in city

 Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy, in collaboration with Federation of Film Societies of India, will organise a two-day Kannada and Bengali film festival in the city and Kolkata.

The Bengali film festival will be held at Chamundeshwari Studios from June 16 to 18. Similarly, Kannada film festival will be organised from July 21 at Nandan Complex in Kolkata.

 The festival will be inaugurated by Bengali actress Madhabi Mukherjee on June 16. Jogajog,  a film based on Rabindranath Tagore’s novel of the same name and directed by Sekhar Das, will be the opening film. The festival is being organised to mark the cultural exchange between the two states. Films OnyaOpala, Abby Sen, Rupkatha Noy, Nayanchampar Din Ratri and Shankar Mudi will be screened in the festival. 

 Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy chairman S V Rajendra Singh Babu, Department of Information and Public Relations director N R Vishukumar, film directors Girish Kasaravalli and T S Nagabharana, Bengali actor Bratya Basu, director Sekar Das, Satarupa Sanyal, Atanu Ghosh, Aniket Chattopadhyay and Bauddhyan Mukherji will take part in the festival. The Department of Information and Public Relations and Department of Tourism, Government of Karnataka, are collaborating the film festival along with Purple Heart Institution. Entry to the festival is only through passes.
