The party expressed apprehensions that such a move would result in another stamp paper scam.

JD(S) spokesperson Y S V Datta, at a press conference in Bangalore on Friday said, the government has appointed the Stock Holding Corporation of India Limited (SHCIL), as the central record keeping agency. The agency is authorised to appoint financial institutions as authorised collecting centres (ACC), which can issue stamp papers.

Datta alleged that the government has authorised the Karnataka Rajya Souharda Samyukta Sahakari Niyamitha and Federation of Karnataka State Credit Cooperative Societies as collection centres.

“Both the institutes have BJP workers as directors. Authorising non-financial institutes may lead to another stamp paper scam,” he said.

Authorised

K R Niranjan, IGR & Commissioner of Stamps, told Deccan Herald that SHCIL authorises financial institutions as ACC on recommendations from the State government. Souharda Samyukta Niyamita has obtained the ACC status.

The organisation deserves to get the status as it has been into financial operations. Whereas, the Federation of Karnataka State Credit Co-operative Societies has not yet got the authorisation.
