Who next for the tough job?

With Anil Kumble deciding not to continue as India’s head coach, the question now centres around who could be the next man in the job.

When the BCCI invited applications for the role in May, former Indian opener Virender Sehwag, Australian Tom Moody, Englishman Richard Pybus, former Indian cricketers Lalchand Rajput and Dodda Ganesh had applied for the role.

Reports had suggested that Sehwag had been convinced into applying for the post and he had sent a two-line CV to the BCCI.

However, the dashing former opener had brushed aside such suggestions, saying he had followed the norms.

Tom Moody, the coach of Sunrisers Hyderabad, had missed out on two previous occasions and he could be the one gaining the job if the Cricket Advisory Committee, comprising Sachin Tendulkar, V V S Laxman and Sourav Ganguly, decides to go for a foreign coach rather than plumping for another Indian. Former Australian paceman Craig McDermott had said he had applied for the job but BCCI has not acknowledged it.Kumble had taken over as coach from Ravi Shastri.
