Youths should not fall prey to BJP, Congress tricks: HDK

JD(S) leader sees vote bank politics by national parties

Janata Dal (Secular) state president H D Kumaraswamy said Congress, in the guise of secularism and BJP, with its agenda of Hindutva, are misleading the people of the coastal Karnataka for votes.

He was speaking to media persons after performing Navachandika Yaga, a sacred fire ritual, with family members at Sri Mookambika Temple in Kollur on Monday.

He said the people, especially the youths from the undivided Dakshina Kannada district, should not fall prey to the tricks of the two national parties. The NDA-led central government has been portraying the cow slaughter issue as the major issue of the country though several other raging problems  continue to affect the common people, he charged.

He predicted that the JD(S) will grow stronger after the political polarisation in the state shortly.

Kumaraswamy said there are several confusions in the farm loan waiver announced by the government recently. “The government should clarify whether the waiver applies for 2016-17. What about the farmers who have already repaid the previous loans,” he wanted to know.

He said three or fours farmers have committed suicide even after the announcement of loan waiver, which shows that the farmers have lost confidence in the government.

He supported Congress leader Meira Kumar’s candidature for the post of the President. JD(S), along with 16 other regional parties will support her candidature, he said.
Kumaraswamy was accompanied by wife Anitha and son Nikhil Gowda.

Temple Management Committee chairman Harish Shetty, assistant executive officer H Krishnamurthy, senior priest N Narasimha Adiga, JD(S) leaders S L Bojegowda and Sabladi Manjaiah Shetty were present.
