MLA C T Ravi has accused Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of indulging in communal politics by Hindu outfits and volunteers.

Addressing media here on Tuesday, Ravi alleged that the Home department in the state had failed miserably in checking the riots in Mangaluru. “The chief minister is accusing the officials in front of the media instead of taking immediate measures to contain the situation. Let him dismiss retired IPS officer Kempaiah, who is acting as advisor to Home department and hold him responsible for all the failures. By targetting officials, the chief minister is only trying to divert attention,” he said.

The MLA demanded a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the family of slain RSS volunteer Sharath Madivala. The government, which pays compensation in case a criminal is killed, does not come to the aid of the innocent people, he said.

He alleged that the state government was involved in vote bank politics. “It is not possible for us to keep quiet when Hindu activists are killed for no reason. The chief minister is prejudiced over the issue and is spreading lies. He does not have the courage to name the Muslim organisations. There is a threat for internal security in Dakshina Kannada district. If the people with the mindset of Talibans are not controlled, they may even target the CM and Ramanath Rai in future,” Ravi said.

Earlier, during a party workers’ programme in Sakleshpur, Ravi flayed Siddaramaiah for issuing statements “in favour of one religion.” The chief minister has issued statements condemning one religion and supporting the other, instead of acting responsibly, he said.
