When adventure beckons

My perfect weekend
Last Updated 20 July 2017, 18:53 IST

Twenty-four hours is not enough for me to do everything that I want to. I need more time for myself. Weekends for me have to be productive and I am constantly looking at ways to make them experiential and memorable. My weekends are perfect when I am with my loved ones.

Most of the time, I meet my friends and make it meaningful. For me, rejuvenation comes with adventure. And it is an important part of my weekend. So my friends and I walk, run, hike or bike. Being outdoors amidst nature and breathing fresh air is what I look forward to.

My idea of a perfect weekend is to allow some catch-up time with myself. It is much-needed after a hectic week at work and to start the ensuing week afresh. I don’t follow my regular routine during the weekends and that’s my way of unwinding.

The weekend is also a time to pursue my interests which include dancing, singing, practising mixed martial arts and gymnastics. Being sporty and active is my mantra. I am a national-level basket ball champion, so I also make sure to spend enough time on it. Though I don’t have any fixed plans for the weekend, most of my time is devoted to fitness. Clearly, health is a top priority for me. I wake up as early as six in the morning and do my workouts.

Being the foodie that I am, I love to explore different restaurants. From Mughlai and Chinese to Indian and Italian, I love any kind of food. Cakes are a favourite too. Frankly, I am just hungry all the time. I would say I will not be impressed by technology until the day I can download food. During the weekends, I usually head to Nando’s, Indigo, Celini in Grand Hyatt and Yauatcha for a perfect meal.

The most precious moments of my life are those spent with my family. Staying in Mumbai with them is the greatest blessing I have. They really matter to me a lot - my mom, dad and my little brother Yashraj are my pillars of strength. I make sure to spend and give them most of my time. Whenever I am travelling outside for shoots, they travel with me and that is great.

As an actor, I am always travelling and flights have become my second home. So, during the weekends I prefer staying at home and enjoying the company of my loved ones. Another interesting outdoor activity of mine is going for long drives, especially when it is raining. To sum it up, my weekends are all about being spontaneous and sporty.
