ELEVATE 100, the ambitious programme to nurture startups in Karnataka conceived by the state IT, BT and Science & Technology Ministry, is gaining greater momentum as the pitch session are coming to an end on Monday.

The programme, which received around 1700 application, already organised pitch sessions in Mangaluru, Mysuru, Hubballi and Kalaburagi with mentors. The Hubballi session concluded on Satuday and Bengaluru will end on Monday.

The Startup Cell of Karnataka Biotechnology and Information Technology Services (KBITS), which is the nodal agency to organise the event, will have to select 100 startups. The top 100 shortlisted startups across all cities will participate in the Grand Finale programme on the August 29 and 30 in Bengaluru.

Interacting with DH, Karnataka IT and BT Minister Priyank Kharge the ELEVATE100 is not confined to 100 startup only. “We are selecting the most 100 innovative startups to the next level of success. We are ready to support those who come up with innovative ideas,” said Kharge.

The minister said the government is open for funding options from corporate and high net worth individuals as part of the programme. “We have build a solid ecosystem in the state for the sustainable growth of startup in almost all sectors of business and technology,”he said.

A jury member, who participated in the screening, said the wide variety of startups showcased in the programme makes it difficult to select only 100 startups.

“We are evaluating these startups based on number of parameters such as innovation, technology, business model, scalability, social impact and team strength among others,” he said.
