Check if hoblis have fodder, seeds, water, MLA tells EO

'Shuddha drinking water units in poor state in Mudigere'

MLA B B Ningaiah directed Taluk Panchayat executive officer Siddappa to conduct a survey on the availability of various facilities in the four hoblis of Chikkamagaluru taluk and submit the report by August 14.

“Make a survey of the Shuddha drinking water units, availability of fodder, seeds, road and community halls,” the MLA told the executive officer.

He was speaking at the quarterly Karnataka Development Programmes review meeting at the Chikkamagaluru Taluk Panchayat hall on Monday.

‘Conduct survey’

“The officials should inform the date on which they will conduct the survey in advance to the villagers. The survey should be conducted jointly by the Departments of Animal Husbandry, Horticulture, Agriculture and Public Works. The report will be discussed with the district in-charge minister to find a solution to the problems,” explained the MLA.

Ningaiah also directed the officials to open a fodder bank at Ambale Gram Panchayat jurisdiction.

Drinking water

“The Shuddha drinking water units are of poor quality in Mudigere taluk. The contractor should maintain the units for six months and then hand it over to the gram panchayats. The poor quality of units will be brought to the notice of Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj H K Patil,” said Ningaiah.

The MLA also directed the executive officer to direct the panchayat development officers to file cases against those who use water from lakes for agricultural land.

‘Sowing completed’

A Horticulture Department official said that sowing of horticultural crops has been completed on 2,630 hectare in Ambale, 1,375 hectare in Vastare. About 50% of the potato crops has been affected with blight disease, said the officer.

The PWD engineer said that a 16-km stretch from Mailimane-Aladagudde-Baskal will be re-asphalted under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY). Under the Nabard project, the road works will be taken up at Marle Harijana Colony, Malalooru Colony, Hosalli, and Kumbarahalli.

Govt schools closed

BEO Venkataramu said that six government schools in four hoblis of Mudigere taluk has been closed down owing to shortage of students.

A Minor Irrigation Department official said that Devikere in Muguluvalli will be developed at a cost of Rs 7 lakh. A total of 13 check dams have been constructed.
