Going the Parsi way

Last Updated 11 August 2017, 18:58 IST

If tucking into a plate of ‘Kheema Pancake’ or ‘Lamb Brain Cutlet’ excites you, then ‘My Way Little Dinette’ is your answer.

It serves Parsi cuisine, which has a great mix of flavours and caters to those who love a different taste in their meal.

The cafe, which is in the Central Business District, sees an interesting mix of customers who like trying different things. Ask Nozer Daroga, the owner, about the place and he explains, “Frank Sinatra’s song ‘My Way’ was my favourite song and the name for the place was derived from it. And I decided to stick to Parsi cuisine as that’s my traditional food,” he says.

Parsi food is understood to be a potpourri of flavours from Gujarat and Britain, he points out. “We have some items which have a continental touch to them. But most of our dishes like ‘Sali boti’ or ‘Patra ni machi’ are conventional items, which would be great delights for non-vegetarians,” he adds.

For the vegetarians, there is the ‘Dahi bhindi’, where one can see an interesting conglomeration of curd and ladies’ finger.

For those who like a Continental spread, there are finger-licking options like the ‘Roast chicken leg’, ‘Spaghetti prawn’, ‘Pan fried sea baas’ and ‘Teriyaki chicken’ to choose from. The rice-lover can choose from limited options like the ‘Egg biryani’, ‘Tamarind rice’ and ‘Brinjal rice’. And for those who would like a quick bite, there are items like the ‘Maska pav’, ‘Bhaji plate’ and ‘Grilled pora sandwich’.

In the breakfast menu they have the ‘Hearty Breakfast’, which includes mushrooms, pav and eggs. “We include eggs in a lot of food. We have something interesting like ‘Eggs on tomato’. We also use eggs on potatoes and more,” Nozer details. There are also other items like ‘Crepe with Nutella’, ‘French toast’ and pancakes with maple syrup or honey.

With its cosy yet bright interiors, the place aims to be the perfect spot for Parsi food lovers. “We see a lot of office-goers visiting our place. Lunchtime can be quite a chaos here with too many people,” he adds with a smile. Apart from food, the place also serves tea and coffee, lassi, buttermilk and fresh lime soda for those who would like to sip on something while chomping away. “Our ‘Raspberry soda’ is a popular item. It has a unique fruity flavour which will leave you instantly refreshed,” Nozer says.

The cafe is located at 44/5, Dickenson Road, Junction Ulsoor Road. The timings are 9 am to 9 pm.
