Sourav showed his class: Gambhir

“It’s not about age but about class. Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Anil Kumble and Sourav Ganguly are class players who can adapt to various situations. An ability of a player is judged by how quickly he can adapt to any form of the game,” said Gambhir after his team lost to KKR.

Ganguly led from the front, hitting his sixth IPL half-century, removing Gambhir with a direct throw, taking a catch and smartly marshalling his bowling resources to walk away with the Man of the Match award.

Gambhir felt his run out by Ganguly was the turning point of the match.
“Obviously, my run-out was the turning point. Till then we were very much in the game. We needed around 90 odd from 10 overs which was absolutely achievable. We got two boundaries in that over and at that point of time we didn’t need that single. It was a mistake on my part and it was a disaster,” Gambhir said.

On his own captaincy, he said, “When I play as a batsman, I forget the captaincy bit. My job then is to score runs. Only when I am fielding, I focus on my captaincy. I never believe that I have been under any sort of pressure due to captaincy when I am batting.”
