Cheat APMC traders to lose licences

Speaking at a function organised to provide plastic crates to farmers who had completed training under “Niyaam” project, the minister said he was aware of the malpractices in APMCs. “The farmer has to register the complaint and we will take suitable action including suspension of the licence of  traders,” he said.

Thangadagi said electronic weighing machines were being installed at all APMCs in the state. Already electronic weighing machines had been installed at 40 APMCs. Every APMC yard would be computerised to ensure greater transparency. He said digital weighing machines would help prevent pilferages and ensure that farmers are not cheated.
Trading through e- tendering had commenced in 32 APMCs and will be extended across the state in a phased manner, he added.
