Arogya Bhagya scheme to be launched on Nov 1: Patil

Rural Development & Panchayat Raj Minister H K Patil said the State government has made all preparation to launch the ‘Arogya Bhagya scheme’ to gift health cover to all citizens from November 1.

He noted this during the inauguration ceremony of BHS Lakeview Heart and Super Speciality Hospital at Shastri Nagar in Belagavi on Sunday. Patil said medical treatment has become unaffordable to the people, with the increasing prices in the medical filed. Going by the economic status of the people, the medical treatment are going to be unaffordable. Hence there is a need for a system and atmosphere to provide free and cashless treatment where medical bills are settled thorough insurance following which the government has mooted the Arogya Bhagya scheme that will be rolled out on November 1, he stated.

Affordable treatment
Although government hospital has all the infrastructure and facilities, but need to compete with private hospitals in providing health care. While there is a need for providing affordable treatment to patients, both private and government will not be able to do so given the high price involved in setting up of hospitals and other medical equipment. So, a model needs to be worked out, where both patients and hospitals are in win-win situation.

Frontier Lifeline Hospital Chairman Dr K M Cherian inaugurating the hospital highlighted the importance of inventions, research and development in the medical field while mentioning some of the research work carried out by the institution.

Member of Parliament Prakash Hukkeri, while highlighting the various health schemes launched the government, appealed Dr Cherian to ensure his medical services to the people of this part of the region. Hukkeri also announced of providing grants from his MPLAD grants for purchasing ambulance to the hospital. MP Suresh Angadi mentioned on how the country had developed as hub of medical tourism.

He called upon the medical fraternity to continue their services with empathy stating that money should not be of that only criteria. The Union government has also responded to the people concerns and had reduced the cost of heart and joint related implants.

Siddeshwar Swamiji of Jnanayogashram, Vijaypur who graced the occasion, advised people to maintain their health to avoid hefty spending on health. People should have a check on what they eat, drink and consume to be fit. He advised people to have love, affection with every person and enjoy coexistence in harmony with the nature for good health and to avoid going to doctors.

Governments Chief Whip Ashok Pattan, MLA Sanjay Patil, Umesh Katti, Shashikala Jolle, D B Inamdar, Anand Mamani, MLC Vivekrao Patil, Dr Girish Sonvalkar, Dr Anil Patil, Dr Mallikarjun Halbavi, Dr Veeranna Bevingidad and others were present.
