Tour turns tragedy for this family from Ullal

The family from Ullal who were on a tour would have reached Mysuru within an hour.

Destiny, however, planned different. Three persons, including a child, were killed when the Tempo Traveller they were travelling in met with an accident at Bilikere in Hunsur, Mysuru district.

The victims are Hameed (52), his son Hakeeb (11) and his brother Iqbal (45). All of them were residents of Masthikatte in Ullal. Rahil, Anweez, and Khatheeja have suffered minor injuries while 12 other family members suffered serious injuries in the mishap.

The family members comprising Hameed (52), his wife Athika (40), children Anweez (19) and Hakeeb (11), Hameed's brother Iqbal (45), his wife Raliya (38), children Rahil (18) and Isha, another brother of Hameed, Samshuddin's wife Mumtaz (29) and his children Asif (10) and Shabeer (11), Hameed's sister Nazeema (45), Sameera Banu (44), Fameeda Banu (35) and her husband Sayyad Baba (42) and his children Shibla, Shameez (11), Shaheem (13) and driver Deepak were on a tour to Mysuru and Ooty when the mishap occurred.

It is said that Hameed's brother Iqbal was running a laundry shop abroad for the last 27 years. When he returned home, the family decided to go on a tour. He had returned to native place on November 4.

The family members had planned to halt at Madikeri before proceeding to Mysuru. However, they left without halting at Madikeri.

The deceased Hameed was running a shop at Masthikatte. He had been the pillar of the family. His son Hakeeb was studying in sixth standard at Peace Public School. It is said that Hakeeb was the one who forced his father Hameed to join them on the tour. Shabeer, another brother of Hameed, did not join them as his wife was ill.
