The battle continues. Sometimes it is the Parliament, sometimes the college canteen or the office cubicle. The battle of sexes, the war to determine who rules the planet and the debate to prove, who is better — the Martians or the Venetians is always on. In all probability, it will, forever — be it life or television. Yes, the idiot box is the latest platform for this face-off, or to be more particular, the stage of the reality show ‘Zara Nachke Dikha’. One of the most successful shows on Star One in 2008, this show is back in a new avatar on Star Plus. And going by the list of participants or the promise made by the broadcasters, there seems to be a lot of entertainment in store for television viewers.

Monika Shergill, Senior Creative Director, Star Plus, believes that the show is an explosive entertainment package, “It has the biggest celebrities on television who are maestros when it comes to dance and have the sheer talent to entertain the audience. ‘Zara Nachke Dikha’ will redefine the gender war through performances of its participants. It’s promising and we are hopeful that viewers will appreciate it, the same way they lauded our other shows.”

Since a lot depends on the celebrities involved, the broadcasters and producers have managed to rope in an interesting retinue. The girls team (known as Masakali Girls) will have Rakhi Sawant, Rashmi Desai, Sangeeta Ghosh, Sanjeeda Shiekh, Aditi Gupta, Hazel Crown, Kritika Kamra and Mukti Mohan. On the other hand, the boys team (known as the Mastkalandar Boys) plan to give girls a tuff competition. Their team includes Karan Singh Grover, Aamir Ali, Abhishek Avasthi, Angad Hasija, Karan Kundra, Asksshat Seluja, Siddhesh Pai and Sushant Rajput. And another interesting feature about the line-up is that two child prodigies — Sparsh Khanchandani and Ayush Khedekar, bubbling with talent and energy are part of the the Masakalis and Mastkalandars respectively.

The show is in also in news because it marks the return of Sangeeta Ghosh after a hiatus of almost two years. She was last seen in ‘Virasaat’. Says the sensuous actress, “For any actor, a break is very important. It allows you to discover your persona. In the last two years, I got the opportunity to do so. I am really happy to be back on the sets with ‘Zara Nachke Dikha’. This battle is going to be lots of fun and I feel all of us should take it in the right spirit.”

Before setting her foot of the show’s dance floor, Sangeeta was seen in a small cameo role in ‘Bidaai’. “When I was on the sets, I realised how much people were missing me. Almost everybody in the caste and crew were happy to see me. Also, the response from my fans was very positive. So when I was offered this show, I decided to take it up,” says the actress, whose much-talked about film ‘Bhanwra’ is yet to be released and is delayed for a long time now.

The other star attraction of the show, as in any other reality show, is Rakhi Sawant. This is the first show after her breakup with Elesh (remember the bald NRI whom she she got engaged on the reality show ‘Rakhi Ka Swayamvar’?). “I am the best in whatever I do —  whether it is a ‘swayamvar’ or dancing. With ‘Nach Baliye’ I created and started a trend of new dancing styles. Through ‘Zara Nachke Dikha’, I plan to do the same and I am sure that people will always try to emulate me and my dancing style. Just wait and watch,” says the actress. Well, modesty was never her strong point!

Interestingly, the show will also feature Rakhi’s ex-boyfriend Abhishek Awasthi. So expectations of on-screen drama are very high, though Abhishek says that he wants to move on. “I don’t want to be known as Mr Rakhi Sawant. I want to have my own identity and kickstart my second innings on television. People loved watching me dance on ‘Nach Baliye’ and will like me here as well.” No matter what he says, with Rakhi around, there will be fireworks on the sets for sure!

The broadcasters want to cash on, all that makes for interesting television! They are leaving no stone unturned to ensure that everyone is glued to their television sets while the show in on air. Star is planning to telecast ‘Zara Nachke Dikha’ internationally as well. “The show will air across 40 countries on the same day, allowing viewers across the world to experience the glitz and glamour in real time,” explains Shergill. The show is being produced by SOL Production, which has produced ‘Rakhi Ka Swayamvar’.

‘Zara Nachke Dikha’ will be telecast on Star Plus post IPL..
