The state government has extended health scheme to retired police personnel after it noticed that most of them are suffering from various ailments.

In the first stage, the government released Rs 20 crore for the scheme.

A government notification stated, "Many police staff undergo various health problems after their retirement. So, the state government has decided to provide them cashless medical treatment by creating an Arogya Kalyana Trust, exclusively for retired police staffs. The base amount of Rs 20 crore has been sanctioned from the government and Rs 9 crore will be added from retired police staff fund."

Arogya Bhagya scheme is already in place for serving police staff as their medical expenses will be refunded after the submission of the bills.
