Woman forest officer pushed into well

A woman forest officer was pushed into a well by unknown people as she and her colleagues were about take action against encroachments in the district.

Her colleagues rescued her using ropes. "Forest ranger Monika Thakur, along with a team, had gone to Karamsi village to remove encroachments yesterday (Wednesday) after getting information that some people are sowing crops on forest land," said superintendent of police Dharmendra Singh Bhadoria.

"According to the complaint, after an altercation, she was pushed into a well by Satish Sharma, Ramnivas Sharma and Ramji Lal Sharma," the officer said.

Luckily, the well didn't have much water, and her colleagues pulled her out using ropes.

A case under IPC sections 307 (attempt to murder) and 353 (use of criminal force against a public servant) has been lodged and police were looking for the accused, Bhadoria added.
