Ajay, who posted a facile 500-139 win over Sasha Sambi in his previous match, scaled down -350 handicap and the 200 against Bhaskar, who had defeated Sasha on Thursday. Ajay’s notable break came on his 62nd visit when he came up with a 90.

Last year’s IBSF World billiards championship quarterfinalist Saurav Kothari banked home a comfortable 202-158 win over Shree Advani in another match.

In Thursday’s Group A encounter, six-time World champion Pankaj Advani scored a comprehensive 1200 to minus 210 win over C Ravindranath.

Pankaj, handed a handicap of -1000, made short work of his target score while his opponent, who had a handicap of -500, struggled before going down -210.

With a consistent barrage of breaks (63,122, 91, 111, 135, 232, 88), Pankaj barely gave Ravindranath a chance to claw his way into contention.

In his second match, Pankaj ousted Michael De Rebello 1200 to minus 188.

Michael, playing with a -500 handicap, found the going hard with the champ coming up with some of the tournament’s highest breaks (140, 240 and 229).

Nine-time world champion Geet Sethi defeated Sasha.
