JOIN USA person died after the autorickshaw he was travelling in was knocked down by a lorry plying towards Kundapur from Byndoor at Hemmadi junction on Friday.
According to the police, the deceased is Ganesh Poojary, aged 37 years. He hails from Soraba and was heading towards Kannada Kudru to his in-law's house when the tragedy occurred. The deceased succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital. Rash and negligent driving by the lorry driver is said to be the cause of the accident.
A case has been registered in Kundapur traffic police station.
Cops defuse tension
Tension prevailed for sometime after a man belonging to a particular community was found dead in a woman's house in Puttur on Wednesday evening. The woman belongs to another community.
The deceased is Prabhakar (48), a resident of Manjeswhar, who was found dead in the attic of a house where he was completing some pending woodwork.
As the news spread, Dakshina Kannada SP Sudheer Kumar Reddy rushed to the spot and monitored the situation.
According to the police, Prabhakar climbed onto the attic to retrieve an article. When he did not return for sometime, the house owner climbed the attic only to find him dead.
Police called Prabhakar's kin to the spot before shifting the body to a hospital for an autopsy, which revealed that the death was due to shock.
A case has been registered.
