New political party to be floated on Jan 15

One more political party, with a slogan of alternative politics to give real power to common people to implement their concept of welfare, is coming into existence, from Sankranti festival.

Janasamanyara Vedike Karnataka, headed by Dr Ayyappa, which also recently joined Mahadayi agitation, will become Janasamnyara Paksha, and this new party would be launched at a programme to be held at Koodalasangam on January 15.

Dr Ayyappa told media persons here on Wednesday that all major political parties gave mere assurances about the development of North Karnataka region and Mahadayi issue, but did not solve them, and therefore, the need to have political power to solve them has been understood and a political party is being floated with the support of pro-Kannada, pro-Dalit, pro-farmer and other organisations.

"We will field new faces in all constituencies in the forthcoming Assembly elections. But, they would be those who have worked for the welfare of the society," he said, adding that problems like Mahadayi dispute can be solved effectively only if the region gets decision-making people's representatives.

Mahadayi agitator Vijay Kulkarni noted that he is supporting the new initiative, as leaders of other parties did not fulfill the demand to divert water from Mahadayi basin to Malaprabha river.

Bagalkot Zilla Panchayat Vice-President Muttanna Komar, Amruth Ijari of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike, and others were present.
