Beedi worker dies of suffocation in warehouse

Tumakuru: A beedi factory worker was found dead due to suffocation in the SMK beedi warehouse near Malur Dinne, Tumakuru city on Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as Mahaboob Pasha (18). The other worker Sadiq has suffered minor injuries and has been shifted to a Bengaluru hospital.    

Police said that Mahaboob and Sadiq who were locked up inside the warehouse had made a small bonfire to keep warm as it was really cold inside. They had closed all the doors and windows of the warehouse also.  

The incident came to light when the duo did not come out on Tuesday morning. People banged on the door to wake them up and only Sadiq woke up and opened the door.  

Police suspect Mahaboob Pasha must have died of asphyxiation. Investigations are on.
