Belagere granted regular bail

The interim bail of tabloid editor Ravi Belagere, who has been charged with conspiring to murder his colleague Sunil Heggaravalli, was regularised on Thursday.

His advocate K Diwakar filed an application for regularising his bail contending that he has been admitted to hospital and was suffering from a heart-related problem.

Hering the submission, the 65th city civil and sessions court judge Madhusoodanan granted him bail after Belagere was asked to produce a security deposit of Rs 2 lakh bond and two sureties.

 Judge directed Belagere not to tamper the evidence and influence the witness. He was also told to co-operate with the investigation.

Speaking to reporters, K Diwakar advocate representing Belagere said that, a petition will be filed before the high court in January seeking to quash the FIRs registered against Belagere as all FIRs registered on a false complaint, he said.


Belagere was arrested by the CCB on December 8 and he was sent to Parappana Agrahara Central Prison, later he complained of multiple ailments and earlier court granted him interim bail till December 16. He was admitted to Jayadeva Hospital on December 13 and later it was extend till December 21. He is still being treated there.

Belagere's health condition worsened

Meanwhile, Belagere's health condition is worsened, since he was under body warranted, it is mandatory to treat him only in government hospital so he was shifted from Jayadeva Hospital to Victoria Hospital. His family members said on Thursday that, since he was granted bail, they decided to shift him back to Jayadeva Hospital.
