Would-be bridegroom's brother killed

One of the brothers of a man set to get married on Saturday was fatally stabbed by  a group of three in DJ Halli, East Bengaluru, on Thursday night, turning the household into mourners, the police said.  

Sheikh Rizwan (22), a fabricator by profession, is suspected to have been killed by his friend, Syed Shahid, and two of his associates near his home. Rizwan's elder brother, Syed Irfan, was to get married in Kalaburagi on Saturday.  

Shahid had borrowed a silver chain from Rizwan and failed to return it despite repeated reminders.

Recently, Rizwan went to Shahid's house and caused a ruckus over the chain. Shahid felt humiliated and vowed revenge.

Accordingly, around Thursday midnight, he and his associates went to Rizwan's house and called him out.  

When he came out, Shahid picked a fight with him. The group attacked Rizwan. The victim sustained a deep stab wound to the left side of his chest and bled profusely. He was taken to BR Ambedkar Medical College Hospital before being shifted to Bowring Hospital, where he succumbed to injuries around 1.30 pm.  

The jurisdictional DJ Halli police rushed to the spot and conducted an investigation. They  are hunting for Shahid and his associates.
