Cabinet sub-panel to decide on new taluks

Addressing a press conference in Bangalore, Reddy said, the Government will study the report submitted by former IAS officer M B Prakash and also the recommendations made by his predecessors - Vasudev Rao, Hundekar and Gaddigoudar.

Reddy said, reorganisation of taluks will be taken up only after extensive consultation and taking everyone into confidence.

The Prakash Committee, which submitted its report last week had recommended formation of 43 taluks, the Vasudev Rao Committee 18, Hundekar Committee 18 and the Gaddigoudar Committee recommended 30 taluks.

The minister’s assurance comes in the wake of protests launched by several groups, particularly in Bijapur, Bagalkot and Chitradurga for being left out in the recommendations made in the Prakash report.
