25-year-old videographs reason for suicide, comes under running train

A 25-year-old man videographed his narration explaining reasons for his decision to commit suicide, shared it with his friends and then  slept on railway tracks near Koranti Hanuman Temple in the city on Thursday evening. Minutes later, he was killed on the spot after a train ran over him.  

The deceased identified as Sudhakar Moratagi (25), a resident of Sumbada village in Jewargi taluk, was married to Rekha, now pregnant for eight months.   The preliminary investigation suggested that a dispute in the family forced the victim take the extreme step.  

In the video, Sudhakar has named Mallappa Muradi, Bhagavva Murali, Bhimabai and Mahadevi, said to be his wife's relatives, as responsible for this death.  

Moratagi and his in-laws  admitted Rekha to a private hospital after she  consumed the poison on Wednesday.

He had met his wife on Thursday hours before taking the extreme step, added the police. The police are ascertaining reasons for the decisions of the couple.  It is suspected that   Rekha's family had threatened him with dire consequence for her plight.

A case has been registered by Wadi railway police station.
