Police stations in Telangana to have social media accounts

Last Updated 30 December 2017, 11:42 IST

The Telangana Police, which has declared 2018 as a year of technology and has announced citizen-friendly initiatives, will have a Facebook page and a Twitter handle for every police station in the state to be in touch with the local community on a daily basis.

All the 800 police stations under the nine police commissionerates of the state will have their social media interface ready by the end of 2018.

Addressing an annual press conference here, the state's Director General of Police, Mahender Reddy, said that similar initiatives taken here at the headquarters have yielded very good results.

"This will maintain transparency in various police functions. This will get a great sense of accountability in the police department," he said.

Similarly, mini command and control centres at each police headquarters will be linked to the state headquarters.

The Telangana Police will also extend the e-challan system to districts and web-based applications such as the e-petty case will be made available on the mobile platform to ensure that the response time is measured and monitored.
