Karkala MLA Sunil Kumar demanded that the state government should immediately announce a compensation package of Rs 50 lakh for the family of slain Sangh Parivar activist Deepak Rao.

During a huge protest rally organised by the district BJP here at Manipal bus stop on Thursday, the MLA strongly condemned the death of Deepak, who was brutally killed in Katipalla. He alleged that the Congress-led state government was solely responsible for the murder. "The chief minister is supportive of Taliban culture in the state and this should be condemned," he said. He added that an increase in the number of murders of Sangh Parivar activists is scary and the Congress government is nurturing the KFD and PFI activists who target Sangh Parivar activists. There is no safety for Sangh Parivar activists, who are being killed. He added that almost 24 pesons were killed following the cases that were withdrawn against PFI and KFD activists by the Siddaramaiah-led state government.

He added that the government did not heed to the demand by the BJP which was against the government's decision. He said that vote bank politics has made Congress favorable towards KFD and PFI. He alleged that Hindus are facing severe threats against their lives. It is high time the government initiates proper action and ensures that Hindus are safe in their homes and streets, he said.

Former MLA Raghupathy Bhat said that Karnataka is becoming another Kerala. "The Siddaramaiah government is supporting anti-social elements who are also anti-Hindus. Hindus are living under threat for their lives. The law and order mechanism in Karnataka has collapsed. Even the future seems full of terror for Hindus to live peacefully," he alleged.
