The state BJP on Monday dubbed the draft Revised Master Plan - 2031 brought out by the Bengaluru Development Authority (BDA) as unscientific and sought its reconsideration.

Addressing a press conference in Bengaluru, BJP state General Secretary Arvind Limbavali and spokesperson Ashwatharanaya said the haste with which the government is moving to get the clearance for the plan has led to suspicion.

They said if the RMP is not reconsidered with immediate effect, then the party will have no option but to scarp the plan if it is elected to power.

"In the name of environment protection, good transport system, better planning, the RMP's intention is to take away agricultural land from farmers and help builder-promoters and the real estate lobby," they charged.

The formation of three zones in an area of 1,006.97 sq km is highly suspicious and has tremendous scope for swindling money, they charged.

There are several lacunae in the plan. For instance, it does not have any plans for the construction of flyovers, they said. All decisions were taken by the BDA without discussions in the Metropolitan Planning Committee (MPC), they said.
