A 29-year-old PhD student of the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), who had gone missing from the JNU campus a few days ago, returned to his Ghaziabad home on Thursday after a trip to Patna.
Mukul Jain, enrolled in IGNOU's Life Sciences course, had been missing since January 8. He returned on Thursday and told police that he had gone to Patna to take a holy dip in the Ganga river.
A police officer said that Jain was depressed after a break-up with his girlfriend. He left for Patna from the JNU campus, leaving behind his mobile phone and ATM card in the JNU lab, police said. Jain had gone to meet his research advisor on JNU campus.
